Bracken Mica Paint and Hardware was established in 1997. The store is situated in the Brackenfell CBD at the Bracken Manor Centre, Paradys Street, Brackenfell, Cape Town. There was a need for a Paint and Hardware store that would provide products, spares and service of excellence in the Hardware Retail sector. This business is a member of the well-known Mica Hardware Group that strives to provide excellent customer service and market leading products at competitive prices. Their strategy for growth and market penetration is supported by dynamic marketing programmes on a national level.

In March 2021, Allin Dangers bought the business and shortly thereafter, his two sons, Brett and Byron joined him. About 18 months later his wife, Lauren joined. Together with the family, Janco de Bruin and Michael Hesselman form the Management team of Bracken Mica Paint and Hardware, supported by a young and dynamic Team who are full of vibrant new ideas. Over the past five years, the business has grown phenomenally due to great customer service, a fair price and stock availability.

Allin spent 28 years at Corobrik, of which 12 years were at Executive level. He has over 40 years’ experience in supply to the building/construction industry and is therefore perfectly suited to his new role. Brett heads up Finance as Financial Manager as well as HR while Byron is the Business Development Manager. His key task is to find NEW business opportunities and to ensure we retain this business, a new role that very few Hardware’s offer. Lauren has come in as Administration Manager, heading up the creditors/debtors and cash side of the business. Janco is the Operations Manager and has spent 16 years in the business in various roles and knows the business intimately. Part of his duties include purchasing which is an important facet of the business as it deals with some 220 of the 400 listed suppliers that the Mica Group have on their books. Michael is the Floor Manager whose main task is managing the sales staff, to ensure they provide excellent customer service, as well as ensuring the merchandising standards of the Mica Group are met. Sydney Beal is the Senior Sales Co-Ordinator concentrating largely on our contractual sales. His main task is to provide quotes for our contractors and other account customers, ensuring that we locate products required by our customers. He arranges the deliveries as required and co-ordinates collections to satisfy demand. As mentioned before, if we don’t have it, we will endeavour to find it for you, a service very few Hardware’s can match.

Bracken Mica Paint and Hardware supplies paint, power tools, electrical equipment, pool equipment, fasteners, LPG, plants, lawn dressing, compost, cement, bagged sand and stone, tile adhesives and grout, garden products, hinges, hooks, doors, timber products, brushware, tapes, spray-paint, light fittings, sanware, taps, toilets, basins and much, much more. Included in our stock is all the spares required for repairs around the home and other maintenance products. We have 32 000 line items in stock, and once again, if we don’t have it, we will endeavour to find it for you. We fill and replace LPG gas cylinders, we do deliveries and will collect products from suppliers to ensure customers demand is met.

This is a dynamic business which has evolved over the years to ensure our customers’ needs are met. Substantial stock is held on site, but should we run short of space, our ‘Just In Time’ collection service is available to meet demands.

Free parking is available at Bracken Mica Paint and Hardware and security attendants are present, overseeing the area that is securely fenced. No vagrants are allowed in the area, for customer safety.
